Cookie Time!
Now that I have the Martha Stewart Cookie Cookbook, I can make such wonderful concoctions as:
Chocolate Cookies with Vanilla Cream Filling! Taking these over to a Grammy viewing party and I haven't even tried them. Let's hope they are as good as the picture looks!

Hey Man!
Had the good fortune of seeing Aman (pronounced " 'ey man! ") Ellis DJ a few nights ago at Pianos. Here he is with his laptop and electric guitar - a great combo. His mustache creeped me out a little (many of you readers might be aware of my distaste for the 'stache) but his tunes made up for it.
Last night a friend from Chicago who now lives in NY invited me to open mic. I couldn't stay late enough to see him play but hopefully next week I will catch him and play a set of my own.

Cake!
My roommate (who is working out quite fantastically as a roommate) got me cake last night! Birthday celebration pt. 2 took place as we ate cake, followed by a night out in Brooklyn with Sara. Unfortunately Sara and I missed the artists we set out to see (Nini & Ben) but I got to meet some of her friends from Boston and snagged a potential drum teacher.

Hey Mr. Postman
A great song by Robert Bateman, Frederick Gorman, and Brian Holland, famously performed by the Marvelettes and some band called the Beatles (they'll be playing in New York on Feb 12; I'll have to check them out*). Actually the song is called "Please Mr. Postman," but that's not what I wanted to call this entry.
Anyway, I received an amazing package in the mail today, courtesy of Danielle Brynan!
It contains a Martha Stewart cookie cook book (!!!), a magic wand (closeup below), sparkly red-pink nail polish (yes, "red-pink" exists), amazzzzing red lip stick pencil (which I have been wanting!!), princess-themed silly bands (obviously I'm mailing some of them back so we can wear the same ones), and the "me & you" card pictured above (glittery, duh).
SO AMAZING! Thanks, friend!
I participated in a conference call at work today which I found quite fascinating. My supervisors are so great, always answering my questions in great detail and explaining the ins and outs of licensing to me.
Dinner tonight with the cousins!
Until then, unfortunately, I have to do homework.
*I hope anyone reading this knows me well enough to get this is a joke. Lest there be any confusion, I know who the Beatles are... were.
Birthday Present to Myself!
The rings, not the manicure, though that was a nice treat too.

This came in the mail today from my parents and sisters as an early birthday present! It's filled with cookies. Thanks family!

Rock & Bowl
Also, today I discovered that another intern in the office used to work with the wonderful and talented LA-based songwriter/producer Mike Daly, whom I interned for in 2008 (and whom I continue to go back and work with whenever I get the opportunity). Small industry.
A great band called Jukebox the Ghost came into the office today to play a short acoustic set for everyone. I'm too tired to try and pinpoint their sound but it's upbeat pop-rock with that Animal Collective-esque "indie rock" vocal quality. I know, both the terms "pop-rock" and "indie rock" are about as vague as I can be. Sorry. Check it out for yourself!
